COVID-19 UPDATE FOR RETURN TO CLASS

Starting June 1st, our plan (unless something changes) is for our level 7/8 students to return to the studio for class 1-2 times per week in addition to Zoom classes. Those level 7/8 students who are either unable to attend due to distance or due to comfort level, will continue to have the option to fulfill all their dance hours on Zoom classes. The schedule for level 7/8 classes is attached and will be posted on our SOUTHERN calendar. Space in these classes is limited because of limitations on gathering size. This schedule has been based off those who answered the poll on either Facebook or by email. “In studio” classes are currently full, however, we may adjust this schedule every couple of weeks IF more families indicate that they would like to return to the studio classes or if the guidelines allow us to gather in larger groups. 

For returning to studio classes, all families MUST adhere to our rules for return. SOUTHERN is expected to operate in accordance with, and fulfill the spirit of the Non-Contact Recreation Guidelines (e.g. the Tennessee Pledge), issued by the Governor’s Economic Recover Group for employee and consumer protection. 

 

  • Students will be limited to no more that 8 per class. 

  • NO visitors or family members will be permitted in the studio/waiting area/lobby during opening hours. 

 

STAFF:

 

  • Must take their temperature immediately prior to entering the studio building, making sure that it’s under 100.4°F. 

  • Must wear masks at all times. 

  • Must not teach if they have a fever within the last 48 hours.

  • Must not teach if they have been in close contact with anyone who has had confirmed COVID-19.

  • Must not teach if they have unusual shortness of breath, cough or sore throat, loss of taste or smell.

  • Must not teach if they have had vomiting or diarrhea within the last 48 hours. 

  • Must wash hands with soap and water upon entering the studio building and wipe down door handles and any other surface they touched with disinfectant wipes. 

  • Must clean and sanitize common surfaces before, during and after every class.

  • Must enforce outlined rules below for families. 

 

DANCERS:

 

  • Must arrive 10-15 mins prior to class time to allow for extra precautions to be taken. 

  • Students will enter the building through suite 106’s door and exit the building through suite 107’s door. 

  • Dancers must have their temperature taken prior to entering the studio building. The CDC considers a person to have a fever when he or she has a measured temperature of at least 100.4° F. Therefore, if someone has a fever, they will be asked to go home to recuperate. 

  • Must be prepared to answer the following questions.

    • Have you had a fever within the last 48 hours?

    • Do you have a sore throat, a cough or unusual shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell?

    • Have you been in contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19?

    • Have you had vomiting or diarrhea within the last 48 hours? 

If they answer yes to any of these questions, they will not be permitted in the studio building and will be asked to return home until they are clear of any of these symptoms. 

  • Students will change shoes, and leave their dance bag by a designated marked off area in the studio. These will be spaced at 6+ feet apart. 

  • Students must wipe down their designated area and dance bag, both on arrival and prior to leaving. Disinfectant spray and wipes will be provided. 

  • During class time, students will observe floor markings and adhere to the 6 foot distancing rule at ALL times.

  • Students must wear masks or cloth face coverings upon entering the building and they must be worn for the entire time. Dancers may step outside if they wish to take a break or remove the mask. 

  • Students and teachers must wash their hands with soap and water every 30 mins during class. These breaks will be staggered during class.
